Christmas
for Emily
On November 29, 2023 our dear friend’s niece Emily (29 years old) was on her way to work at University Pittsburgh Medical Center. As she was walking in the crosswalk, she bent down to pick up her phone when a UPMC shuttle bus struck and killed her. Emily was just an incredible young woman. She was kind, gentle, and genuine. I would say that KINDNESS was her superpower. She did not notice anyone’s disabilities, but rather would support their abilities. She would share a smile or just a “Good Morning” with everyone she met. She loved words and books, and was actually in the process of writing a novel when she was killed.
She absolutely adored animals. How could she not…she was born and raised in a family who rescued homeless and unwanted dogs and cats for decades. No animal was unworthy of her love, and she spent her life saving the lives that others no longer wanted.
Precious Paws, a wonderful animal rescue organization in Franklin, PA, dedicated their newly remodeled Cat Room in Emily’s memory. While this may not seem significant to many people, it meant the world to her family and friends. Emily never wanted to be in the spotlight or acknowledged for all of the good she did, but I like to think that she would have approved of this honor.
The Wason family is so thankful to Clauses4Causes for donating their charitable contributions to Precious Paws Animal rescue in Emily’s memory. This allows her Legacy to live on, continuing to touch more lives and saving the lives of homeless dogs and cats.
